1923 Streetcar Tour
In 1923 President Harding scheduled a 3 hour stop is Skagway. The local residents had the man with the biggest truck, the coal delivery company, clean the truck up, install seats, and paint it to turn it into a "streetcar". The owner gave president Harding a "Tour of Skagway and All Points of Interest" President Harding was then taken to the Artic Brotherhood Hall and made an honorary member.
Today the tour still exists complete with replica streetcars, costumed drivers, induction into the Artic Brotherhood, and most of all, lots of fun. You are given a tour of town and of the Pioneer Cemetery. You are then taken back into town for a show. During the Artic Brotherhood Show, a slideshow shows events in Skagway's history.
