To all-ya-all,

Saturday I drove over to Roy Sarafinski's garage (pole barn) to see
first hand his 5th bearing solution. He posted a link here to
roysgarage.com and I replied back with "Nice work. When do you want me

to bring you my engine? ;-) Where are you located? I would like to
visit." We emailed and talked on the phone resulting in my trip his
facility.

I met Roy and entered his home/shop and there it was on an engine
stand. Roy has done some serious thinking on the design of this
elegant approach. In essence what he has done is solidly extend the
case and crankshaft of the Corvair flight engine. All his work is
 close
tolerance and strong. Roy has a very complete facility for doing this
kind of work and the finished product is first class.

Roy's plane, a CH701 is quite away from flying, as is mine, a 601XL.
Roy designed this for himself because of the high angle of attack the
701 has, and like me doesn't want to spend the money for the other
flight engines out there. I would like to see someone build up a BigBoy

with this solution and try some aerobatics, it looks that strong.

Roy is also doing some very interesting work on dual plug electronic
ignition/injection systems. The dual plug method he has perfected
removes very little of the cooling fins on the cylinder heads. I also
got a lesson in Wasted Spark systems from Roy, think I even understand

it now.

Anyway, just wanted to give a report about a guy doing some really good

stuff out there and to encourage others to look him up.
