The Private Pilot Rating

     The Private Pilot Certificate is the basic rating for a pilot wanting to advance to more complex aircraft.  You are able to carry passengers, fly day or night in VFR weather, navigate using the worldwide electronic navigation systems, and can fly internationally.  You can transition to complex or high performance aircraft.  From the Private Pilot level you can advance to Instrument, Commercial, and Multi-Engine  ratings.

FAA requirements to obtain a Private Pilot Certificate

1. Be at least 17 years of age (when you finish your training and take your FAA Practical Test.)

2. Be able to read, speak, write, and converse fluently in English.

3. Take a flight physical and obtain a Third Class Medical Certificate.

4. Pass the 60 question pilot knowledge test with a score of 70% or better.

5. Receive a minimum of 40 hours of flight training, including a minimum of 10 hrs solo time.

6. Successfully complete a FAA Practical Flight Test.

 

     The Private Pilot Certificate in recognized internationally and you can fly outside the United States.   After receiving your Private Pilot Rating,  you can take passengers up with you.   You can fly into class B, C, and D airspace.  With proper checkout you can transition to complex or high performance aircraft.

     This is a great option for someone who wants to enjoy the fun of flying while building a foundation to advance to higher ratings.
