December 1, 2009 - KR2 Engine
My original Corvair engine was removed from the plane. A wooden stand was made to sit it on. and strapped to the engine. The engine was loaded into my car to be taken to my storage area. The engine will be pickled with fogging gil until needed. It will serve as a spare engine for my KR until it is used on another plane I plan to build. The alternator coils were attached to the rear housing, and the rotor and flexplate were then attached. The rear housing cover was then bolted on. The rear pulley will need to be modified to attach to the crank to drive the vacuum pump. I took time to weld up a couple of angle scraps to make a lifting bracket.
