The Introductory Flight

An introductory flight is not a rating, but is an opportunity for you to experience flight.  This first flight is a real lesson, not just a 20 or 30 minute flight.  You will find that flying is not as hard as you thought, but its a lot more fun.  This lesson gives you a chance to experience flying without further commitment.  At the end of the lesson your flight time is logged in your own log book.

Your flight starts with instruction on what to check to make sure the plane is ready to fly.   The flight controls are explained and soon you will be taxiing out to the runway.  You will follow the flight instructor on the controls as the plane takes off.  Now you are flying!  Once the plane is away from the airport you will be shown how to fly straight and level, make climbs, turns, and descents.  The instructor will operate the radio as required so you can experience flying the plane.  Ample time will be allowed for you to practice what you have just learned.

As you head back to the airport, the instructor will help you refine your technique.  The instructor will have you follow him on the controls as the plane is brought in for a landing.   Once the plane is clear of the runway, you will taxi the plane back to the parking area.

Once back in the terminal, your questions will be answered and the flight will be reviewed.  Your flight time will be recorded in your log book.  It will count toward any flight rating you decide to work on.  You are free to stop at this point or to schedule additional lessons if you decide to continue.
