Hanna Highway Area

The road to Hanna is an adventure.  The town of Hana is not that fantastic, it's the drive to it that is great.  The drive starts at Pa'ia.  Pick up a road to Hana tape or CD here if you don't have one.  You will also want to get a box lunch unless you want to eat at Mama's Fish House. Mama's is at the first part of the route.  It is  an excellent restaurant, but you must have a reservation to be assured a seat, and is expensive.

The first rest area you come to along the highway is Hlielo Lookout.  A little further on you come to a place called the Garden of Eden. It requires a small fee to enter.  There is also a place called Keanea Arboretum which is open free to the public.

Once in Hana we went to the Red Sand Beach.  It is shown on all the maps.  It's a local hangout.
