Kilohana Plantation

In 1935 Gaylord and Ethel Wilcox  managed the 22,000 acre plantation and lived in the 15,000 sq. ft.  English Tutor estate.  Today you can have breakfast and tour the estate.  Most of the rooms have been turned into small shops where you can shop for gifts.

We attended the Sunday brunch. On Sundays they have a omelet and ham carving station. Reservations were required.  The service was the worst we ever had.  We went through the buffet to get our food but did not have a waitress for over 30 minutes.  We asked a waitress who was passing by us frequently if she could get our waitress or give us some coffee.  She told us the second time we asked that she was too busy to give us any coffee but she would tell our waitress when she saw her.  After complaining to management, that waitress came back to us and said she was now our waitress.  We overheard other tables complaining about service also.

The buffet food was good, but at the omelet station and carving table, the server was complaining about being overworked and having extra wedding he had to work.  The ham he served me had more fat on it than any ham I had ever been served.  People who know me know that it takes a lot for me to complain about ham.

Seeing the plantation was nice, but the service was horrible.
