The following airports are International:
Guatemala City (MGGT) This is the only airport near Guatemala City. It handles both commercial and private flights fast and with ease. Baja Bush Pilots members always seem to be welcome at the Guatemala Flying Club’s clubhouse on the second floor of their building just south of the tower. Ask ground for progressive to taxi there. They also have fuel both at the taxi-up island and on a truck. You will need to show your current BBP membership card to access the club. Upon landing when entering or departing the country from here, you must park at the tower and go through two or three major steps including the hardest, entering through the back door of the main terminal, going through the terminal (passing all the commercial gates) and finding immigration. And, when the paperwork is complete, you have to then find your way back.
Santa Elena (also known as Tikal and/ or Flores) (MGTK) By far, the easiest place to check into Guatemala is Tikal. Flight service is there to help and in most cases, will help you with your luggage. Immigration and customs are quick and easy and taxis are just outside the door. In addition, there are several persons from regional airlines that will assist you with your flight plans as well as a very attentive flight service with full weather reporting abilities. Warning, The military no longer sells av gas at Tikal. If you need fuel, you need to make prior arrangements.
Puerto Barrios (MGPB) Military, expect delays for immigration and customs. Last time I was there, I borrowed a bicycle from one of the military persons to go to the tower to do the paperwork.
San Jose (MGSJ) Military, expect delays for immigration and customs. Again, I had to go to the tower to do the paperwork.
