Grand Bahama Island

Grand Bahama, an ox-jaw-shaped island 60 nm east of Florida and 110 miles northwest of New Providence is the second most popular tourist destination in the Bahamas.  It is served by  a major airport with an instrument approach.

There are many places to stay as well as many restaurants to choose from.

The main town, Freeport, is also a cruise destination with Port Lucaya.      Many people remember the International Bazaar.  It was damaged by the hurricanes in 2004 but is being repaired and updated.  Its still a great place to shop.  Without the cruise ships in port the merchants get very easy to deal with.

You can also get your hair braided to match your new outfit, walk along the beach, or even watch a beach wedding.

As with all of the Bahamas there are many water sports for your leisure activities.

As with any popular tourist destination there are timeshare resorts on the island which you get invited to tour.
