Balinese traditional village

    In traditional Balinese society, when a couple marries they move into the compound of the man.  Within the compound is the family temple, and many small houses used for various purposes.  The compounds have a stone wall around them to separate them from the other compounds.  Room is made for the new couple to build a small house for them.  If there is no more room available then when financially able one of the family starts another compound.
