Fairbanks Stuff
For the gold miners "Fairbanks Stuff" usually meant selling the gold you had mined, hitting the bars, and the brothels, then buying supplies for return to the claim. There is also lots of other "Fairbanks Stuff" for a visitor to do.
The town of North Pole, Alaska has perpetual Christmas as you would suspect. Santa was there if you wanted your picture taken with him. Letters mailed to Santa at the North Pole, Alaska are delivered there by the postal service. They are answered by some of his unpaid helpers. You can also buy all manor of ornaments and/or souvenirs.
Pioneer Park is a free attraction developed to show people what life in Alaska was like in the past. It is an excellent place to spend an afternoon learning about Alaska. The park has an Aviation Museum which is fascinating to visit and can take up 1 - 2 hours by itself. The Salmon Bake at Pioneer Park is one of the better ones in Fairbanks and the profits go to help support Pioneer Park. Overnight parking is available in the parking lot for $5 per night. A Cheep hotel will run $100 during the summer, so this is a good option if you have a camper.
