2006 KR Gathering
I arrived at Mt Vernon
Friday at about 3PM. It had
been sunny earlier in the day, but was now cloudy and occasional light rain.
There was a couple of planes on the flight line but most were already in the
hanger. Many people were watching William Wynne's latest video in the
terminal. The cafe in the terminal had a excellent buffet for dinner
and there was a lot of hanger talk and reviewing of everyone's latest photos.
Saturday was a good day for flying. Scattered showers in the area, but nothing that caused problems with the gathering. In the afternoon we had an engine seminar then did group photos as well as more flying. Steve Glover put on a talk/demonstration on the use of screen wire to form wheel fairings. We broke things off about 5pm. to go get cleaned up for the evening banquet.
The usual awards were given out. A vote was taken and it was decided to keep the KR Gathering at Mt Vernon for another year. There was talk about dates, and a suggestion was made for the 3rd week of September which would coincide with the sweet corn and watermelon festival. We would be able to do a formation flight during the parade.
Jennet was there again this year. and the Mayor of Mt Vernon gave a short speech and invited us to come back.
Food was plentiful and everyone had their fill to eat. Even Prime Rib.
